Carmel High School Unveils State-of-the-Art Athletic Facilities
Carmel High School has raised the bar for athletic programs with the unveiling of its newly renovated facilities, an ambitious $55 million project designed to inspire athletes and benefit the community.
The centerpiece of this transformation is the upgraded natatorium, which now features an Olympic-sized pool, a dedicated diving well, and a therapy pool with a ramp for students with disabilities.
This cutting-edge setup is a testament to the school’s swimming legacy, including the girls’ swim and dive team’s record 38 consecutive state titles.
Senior and Olympic medalist Alex Shackell praised the facility, calling it “one of the best in the nation.”

Athletic Director Jim Inskeep shared that the upgrades provide younger students with hope that their aspirations, even Olympic dreams, can be achieved here.
Beyond the pool, Carmel introduced a versatile indoor multi-purpose facility last fall.
Originally designed for the football team, it has also become a haven for the marching band, offering protection from harsh weather conditions.
Band Director Chris Kreke emphasized how the facility elevates the band program and demonstrates the school’s support for their efforts, which are often undervalued.
The commitment to improving student experiences doesn’t end there.
Carmel High School is also renovating its football stadium, with plans to complete the project by 2026.
The entire initiative reflects the broader community’s dedication to investing in its students, fostering a culture of excellence both on and off the field.
