MUNCIE, Ind. — A teenage boy in Delaware County has been charged with rape and reckless homicide.

Court documents say Cameron Drummer, who is 14, is accused of sexually assaulting a woman back in October. They describe Drummer as having beaten, stomped on, and then strangled the woman until she lost consciousness.

He then stole the woman’s car and drove off at a high rate of speed.

Drummer was seen by witnesses weaving through traffic along a busy street in Muncie. Soon after, he crashed the car after running a red light, colliding with another car driven by a woman who later died.

Drummer is being charged as an adult. Here are some of the charges Drummer faces:

  • Robbery resulting in serious bodily injury
  • Attempted rape
  • Reckless homicide
  • Two counts of criminal recklessness
  • Three counts of leaving the scene of an accident with moderate or serious bodily injury
  • Auto theft

In all, Drummer is being charged with 23 counts.

The woman he’s accused of sexually assaulting is said to have sustained multiple broken ribs, a broken sternum, a collapsed lung, multiple bruises, scratches, and abrasions.

Investigators say in the weeks prior to the assault, Drummer looked up hundreds of websites that described sexual violence against women. He is said to have looked things up like “female prisoners restrained and punished” and “Girl humiliated and beaten.”

A juvenile court magistrate urged prosecutors to charge Drummer as an adult, describing the 14-year-old as “beyond rehabilitation under the juvenile justice system.”
