INDIANAPOLIS — A man is in prison for shooting another man and selling drugs.
Court documents say Sheriff’s Deputies in Shelby County saw Marvin Golden Jr. sell over 50 grams of meth while his children were sitting in the back of his car. That was back in October 2022. He then sold 20 more grams of drugs in November 2022.
In March of next year, Golden shot Anthony Shelman in the chest, as well as a passenger in the hand in Marion County. Shelman was taken to the hospital, but he did not survive. Police found surveillance video of Golden cleaning his car in the rain. They searched Golden’s home later, and they found the gun that was used to shoot Shelman.
That’s not all. Golden was also involved in armed robbery when he was a teenager.
“Anthony Shelman should be alive today, and we are condolences go out to his family and all who loved him,” said Zachary A. Myers, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana. “Marvin Goldman has repeatedly demonstrated that he is a violent, vicious criminal who has an utter disregard for the law. We want to thank our partners at ATF, ISP, and in Shelby County Sheriff’s Department, as well as our federal prosecutor, for ensuring that this measure of justice is done.”
Golden is now facing 13 years in jail and five years of supervised release.
