JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind.– Kasey Noel, daughter of former southern Indiana sheriff Jamey Noel, was sentenced to 5 years in prison Monday. Noel will spend just over four of those years suspended to probation.

Noel pled guilty to theft and tax evasion charges. Her father previously claimed responsibility for her crimes during his own sentencing. Attorney’s representing Noel explained the plea agreement was reached based on facts from her father’s case.

Noel’s mother, Misty, faces five counts of theft and five counts of tax evasion.

The Noel family’s legal troubles stem from former sheriff Jamey Noel. He’s accused of misusing funds from the Utica Township Volunteer Firefighters Association. Jamey was ordered to pay more than $3 million in restitution and sentenced to 15 years in prison.
