Proposed Bill Could Help Schools Prepare for Cardiac Events

WASHINGTON — A bill that hopes to save lives from cardiac arrest is clearing the U.S. House of Representatives.
The HEART Act would help ensure that schools are prepared for cardiac emergencies by equipping them with AEDs, Cardiac Emergency Response Plans, and CPR training for staff and students.
New Jersey Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. introduced the bill after two New Jersey high school students died from rom hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Learn more about the condition here.
The bill now has to clear the Senate.
