U.S. News & World Report has released its 2025 Best Colleges rankings, and Indiana schools have earned notable spots. The University of Notre Dame tied for 18th place on the list of Best National Universities, highlighting schools with a wide range of undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs.

Purdue University, ranked 46th overall, continues to be Indiana’s highest-ranked public university. It also placed 18th among public universities. Notably, Purdue has been named one of the top 10 Most Innovative schools for seven consecutive years. Purdue earned high marks for graduate earnings and faculty resources. The university’s engineering programs, including industrial and civil engineering, are consistently ranked among the top 10 nationally.

Other Indiana schools on the list include Indiana University-Bloomington, ranked 73rd, and Indiana University-Indianapolis, which came in at 196th. Ball State University tied for 204th, while Marian University and the University of Indianapolis ranked 273rd and 296th, respectively. Oakland City University placed 315th, and Indiana State University ranked 377th.

These rankings provide valuable insight for high school juniors as they begin planning their college futures, showcasing the strong academic options in Indiana. Nationally, Princeton University scored the top spot.
