INDIANAPOLIS–A car was stolen and a child went missing in Indianapolis on Thursday afternoon in what police believe may have been a kidnapping. The child has since been found.

At around 1:30 pm, IMPD Southwest District officers said they were told that a car was stolen near the intersection of W. 12th Street and N. Tibbs Avenue on the west side. The person who owns the car told them it was stolen and their baby was inside it.

About one mile away from there in the 2000 block of N. Somerset Avenue, police say they got a call that an infant had been left in a car seat with no adults around.

They checked the area and found the child who is safe. The child was checked by IEMS and returned to the parent.

Now police are trying to find the stolen car. The IMPD Missing Persons Unit is overseeing the case.
