Summer-Like Temperatures Stick Around, Next Chance of Rain on Tuesday Night
INDIANAPOLIS — Hot temperatures expected once again across the state of Indiana on Monday afternoon.
Marcus Bailey, a meteorologist at WISH-TV, says many areas will see highs close to 90 degrees, which does tend to happen every so often in September.
“I wouldn’t necessarily call it unusual, but maybe ‘a little late in the game’ since we’re already rolling into the middle of the month,” Bailey said. “This is summer’s last gasp here before we gradually move into cooler temperatures.”
“We’re coming from summer, we’re trying to transition into the fall. So you go back-and-forth quite a bit, so we’ll have our bouts of cooler, crisp days, but we’re also going to have some of these bursts of warmer afternoons as well.”
He says highs will be in the upper 80s across the state once again Tuesday, before the next chance of rain and thunderstorms roll through.
“Cold front should arrive in northern Indiana around dinner time,” Bailey said. “And there could, actually, be a threat of severe weather for the northern third of the state, with damaging wind potential.”
He expects the storms to weaken as they approach central Indiana Tuesday night, but the chance of rain showers will linger into Wednesday morning.
