BROWNSBURG, Ind. — A shooting in Brownsburg that left a teenager dead was gang-related.

That’s according to court documents that say the Hendricks County prosecutor is charging four people with murder. Freddie Hegwood died on Dec. 15, 2020. Hegwood and another individual, identified only by initials in court documents, were in a car in a Brownsburg subdivision when shots were fired from another passing car.

Hegwood was transported to an Indianapolis hospital where he later died. Surveillance video from a home in the area provided investigators with the car that the shooters used.

Now, prosecutors are charging Kamarion Moody, Jeremy Perez, Antonio Lane, and Tyreontay Jackson with murder, attempted murder, and criminal recklessness.

Only Lane is in custody while the other three are still on the loose. Online records show Lane had an initial appearance in court Thursday.

During the investigation, investigators with the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Office discovered a feud between several Indianapolis-based gangs.

Detectives say Hegwood was associated with a gang called Kutthroats, a gang that has had “numerous documented incidents in the Indianapolis area” with a gang called the Insane Money Gang. Detectives say other smaller gangs are also affiliated with both groups.
