INDIANAPOLIS — A fire was accidentally set off in a kitchen in the Spanish Oaks Apartments on Indy’s far east side Saturday evening.
The Indianapolis Fire Department says the fire started around 5:45 p.m. on Govenours Court, when someone left food unattended on a stove, which damaged four apartment units and displaced 11 adults and three children. No injuries were reported.
Firefighters extinguished the fire within 20 minutes.
Apartment management has shelter available for the 14 displaced residents.
