White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany said in a press briefing Thursday that local governments should bring students back to school this fall despite concerns from Democrats over K-12 students and whether they’ll be safe if they return to in-person classes.

“The President has said unmistakably that he wants schools to open,” McEnany said at a White House press briefing. “And when he says open, he means open and full, kids being able to attend, each and every day at their school.”

“We encourage localities and states to just simply follow the science, open our schools,” she later added.

WIBC host Tony Katz examined the argument over whether or not to open schools on a local level in Indianapolis.

Katz:

“We can be safe and be smart at the same time. Go do that. Why can’t we say that? We are so politicizing school; we’re so politicizing children; we’re using them as human shields; we’re using them as weapons… ‘Oh, you send children back to school, you’re going to get them killed,’ they claim. That’s your message to a 7th grader? You’re sick! That is diseased that people are doing that.”
