Indy Man Charged With Wife’s Murder
INDIANAPOLIS — Police say a man was drunk when he shot and killed his wife on July 8.
Jason Phipps was charged with the murder of his wife, Jill, who police found shot in the stomach. She died at the hospital.
Court documents say Phipps was “drunk and disruptive” on June 21, and Jill had “redness” on her neck. Jason was taken to the hospital for a psychological evaluation, and a gun was taken by police. This was around two weeks before Jill Phipps was shot.
Phipps said Jill always tried to grab his guns and would grab the barrel. He also said he doesn’t feel safe unless he has a gun with him, and sometimes sleeps with a pistol.
A child in the house told police that Phipps had pulled a gun out three or four times while arguing with his wife over the last several months.
Phipps’ trial is Oct. 26.
