INDIANAPOLIS — A shooting Saturday morning at an apartment complex on the city’s east side left two people dead and led to a police chase across town that ended in a crash—and a peaceful surrender—on the west side.

IMPD says officers were called just before 9 a.m. to Carriage House East Apartments near 42nd and Mitthoeffer. Three people had been shot. Two of them did not survive.

The investigation quickly escalated, eventually leading to a pursuit of a suspect driving a pickup truck. That chase ended when the truck crashed into several parked cars at a small, mom-and-pop car dealership on 16th Street.

Police surrounded the scene using drones and long guns. According to officers on the scene, the man got out of the truck and surrendered without a struggle after family members arrived.

IMPD tells WIBC Radio that a second person connected to the shooting was also taken into custody—but not at the scene.

Police are still investigating what led up to the shooting and how the two individuals are connected.
