Suspect Taken Into Custody After Chase, Standoff on Indy’s West Side

A man has been taken into custody after leading police on a high-speed chase on the west side of Indianapolis. His identity is unknown at this time.
IMPD said that this chase originated near 42nd and Mitthoffer where the person was wanted in connection to a shooting where three people were left in critical condition. IMPD confirms that there are two people in custody for the shooting.

INDIANAPOLIS — A high-speed chase along 16th Street in Indianapolis ended in a crash near the corner of Winfield Avenue and 16th Street Saturday morning, prompting a large police response.
As of 9:30 a.m., Indianapolis police had a black pickup truck with heavily tinted windows surrounded near Jane’s Barbershop. Officers deployed both a drone and a flash bang as they worked to make contact with the person inside.
Multiple squad cars were on scene and a SWAT vehicle was en route as the standoff continued.
Authorities have not yet released details on what led to the chase or whether the driver is armed. It’s unclear if anyone was injured in the crash.
