Grant County Detention Deputy Arrested and Charged

MARION, Ind. — Marion Police had the duty this week of arresting a fellow cop. Russell Rodriguez, who is a Grant County Detention deputy, has been charged with domestic battery.
Rodriguez was arrested Wednesday.
Though neither the sheriff’s department nor the Marion Police Dept. made it clear exactly what went on to warrant the charges, in a Friday news release, the Grant County Sheriff’s Dept. said Rodriguez had been placed on administrative leave.
Both departments are conducting investigations into the matter.
“The Sheriff’s Office takes these allegations very seriously. We are committed to upholding the integrity of our agency and will conduct a thorough and impartial internal investigation, following all applicable policies and procedures,” read the release.
“We believe in and support the criminal justice system and have full confidence in the investigators and the prosecutor overseeing this matter. Because the investigation is still in its early stages, no further information is available at this time.”
