Indianapolis Father Accused of Killing His 5-Year-old Daughter
INDIANAPOLIS–A five-year-old girl died in Indianapolis on Monday and her father was arrested.
Just after 11 a.m day that child abuse detectives and IMPD officers responded to a report of an unresponsive child who had fallen down the stairs at a home on North LaSalle Street near East Washington and North Rural Streets.
“When officers arrived, they located a child inside the residence with injuries consistent with trauma. Officers on scene immediately began to perform lifesaving measures. IEMS arrived and, unfortunately, the child as pronounced deceased on scene,” said IMPD in a Tuesday morning news release.
The child has since been identified as five-year-old Zara Arnold.
Child abuse detectives arrived. Her father, 41-year-old Zachary Arnold spoke with the detectives and was later taken into custody. He’s facing preliminary charges of child neglect of a dependent and murder.
The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will make the final charging decision.
