IMPD Confirms at Least Nine Shot late Saturday into Early Sunday

INDIANAPOLIS — Several people were shot near Monument Circle in downtown Indianapolis late Saturday.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department says officers arrived at the intersection of East Washington Street and North Meridian Street before 10:45 p.m., and they found two boys that were shot. They were both taken to a hospital, where they are stable.
Officers were also made aware that a man walked into IU Methodist Hospital before 11:30 p.m. after he was shot. They say he was also shot near East Washington Street and North Meridian Street. Officers say the man had minor injuries.
Police detained a person as they were looking into this case.
Officers say firing guns should not be happening, and it is ridiculous behavior.
Before the downtown shooting happened, officers say another person walked into IU Methodist Hospital before 10:30 p.m. They say he is also stable.
After 10:20 p.m., officers also arrived in the 2900 block of North Dearborn Street, where at least two people were shot, and one of them died at the scene.
Officers were then made aware of at least one person shot in the 5200 block of East 38th Street. This was after police looked into the shooting in downtown Indianapolis. Then, they arrived in the 20 block of North Arsenal Avenue because another person was shot. That person was taken to a hospital, and he is also stable.
Just before 2:00 early Sunday, officers say another person is stable after they were shot.
Police say at least nine people were shot across Indianapolis.
