INDIANAPOLIS–The Indianapolis Colts have released kicker Matt Gay, who had two years left on his contract.

The move saves the Colts $2.75 million in cap space for the 2025 season. Gay struggled on field goals over 50 yards, going 11-for-22 in the past two seasons.

The Colts signed Spencer Shrader during free agency, who went 9-for-9 on extra points and 5-for-5 on field goals in his rookie year after starting for the team in Week 1.

The 31-year-old Gay previously spent time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2019) and Los Angeles Rams (2020-2022) before joining the Colts. He spent time on the Colts’ practice squad in 2020 as well.
