Videos Show Richard Allen’s First Police Interrogations
CARROLL COUNTY, Ind.–“I didn’t do it.”
That’s what Richard Allen, the man convicted in the 2017 Delphi murders case, can be seen telling police in one of two videos published Tuesday by the YouTube account “Crime Circus”.
According to the description provided by Crime Circus, the 1 hour, 22-minute video is from Allen’s first police interview on Oct. 13, 2022, in Delphi. The video has been edited and is not the original exhibit shown to jurors in the courtroom.
“It’s not me,” Allen tells an investigator, motioning toward a suspect photo on the table in front of him. “You’re not going to make me believe it’s me. You’re not going to find anything to tie me to those murders.”
A second video of roughly the same length, titled “The 2nd Richard Allen Interrogation,” was published immediately after the first. Crime Circus says the video is of Allen’s second police interview, which took place on Oct. 26, 2022. The video opens with Allen embracing his wife, Kathy, in an interrogation room before investigators arrive.
Allen was found guilty in November of two counts of murder and two counts of felony murder for the deaths of 13-year-old Abigail “Abby” Williams and 14-year-old Liberty “Libby” German. The girls’ bodies were found near the Monon High Bridge near Delphi on Feb. 14, 2017, a day after they went missing.
His murder trial started Oct. 18 and ran for several weeks. The 12-person jury deliberated for four days before delivering the guilty verdict on Nov. 11. Less than a month later, Allen was sentenced to 130 years in prison.
Allen’s attorneys filed a formal appeal in his case in March.
