INDIANAPOLIS – Free rides on the IndyGo Red Line are about to come to an end.
IndyGo offered riders three months of free rides on the rapid transit line due to issues with Flow Bird, the company in charge of their payment system.
The payment system wasn’t ready in time for the Red Line’s launch in September, leading to a series of delays, according to IndyGo.
A temporary payment system is now in place at every Red Line stop and IndyGo is ready to start collecting fares.
The first day you will be expected to pay for a ride on the Red Line is Sunday, Dec. 1. The fare is $1.75, according to IndyGo’s Lesley Gordon.
Using the payment system is pretty easy, Gordon told WISH-TV.
“Just follow the prompts on the screen and you’ll be able to pay with card or cash,” said Gordon. “Select the fare type that you would like, then decide how you want to pay and your ticket will pop out.”
Veterans can ride still all IndyGo buses for free year-round as long as they have the proper ticket, according to WISH-TV.
