SCOTT COUNTY, Ind.--An investigation into illegal steroid possession and distribution led to the arrest of a Scott County Deputy as well as a Scott County reserve officer.
State police say they were acting on a tip that Scott County Deputy Joe Don Baker, 39, of Salem was involved in possible illegal steroid use and distribution. They started an undercover investigation Tuesday and felt they had enough evidence to arrest Baker Thursday morning.
Police also say Scott County reserve officer Phillip E. Thomas, 32, of Scottsburg was involved too. They also arrested him.
Baker and Thomas are now in the Scott County Jail.
Baker has been charged with the following:
- Conspiracy to deal in steroids, a level 6 felony
- Official misconduct, a level 6 felony
- Possession of a hypodermic needle, a level 6 felony
- Possession of schedule III controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor
Thomas has been charged with the following:
- Possession of schedule III controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor
