ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. — Officers in St. Joseph County are investigating after a man was hit by a car and “critically” hurt Thursday evening.
According to the county’s Prosecutor’s Office, 77-year-old Robert Steinmetz was driving on State Road 23 when he hit 60-year-old Mark Huffman near Douglas Road.
Huffman had apparently walked onto the road, though it is not clear why. He was taken to the hospital with “critical injuries,” but an update on his condition has not yet been provided.
No one else was hurt, and police do not believe drugs or alcohol were involved in this incident.
