EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Charges have been filed against an Evansville couple for animal neglect.
Animal control arrived at Brent and Rebecca Holder’s home on West Delaware Street Wednesday after receiving a call about a bird that was dead and a gerbil that was in bad shape.
An officer says the couple let them search their home, and that’s where he found the gerbil who was in a cage with no food or water. The officer says the gerbil was so decayed, he saw its bones.
Police say Brent Holder neglected animals in the past as well.
In 2023, the same officer went to the Holders’ home, and he took a snake and a dog from them.
The Holders were then taken to Vanderburgh County Jail.
