House Republlicans Announce Appointments

INDIANAPOLIS — With the 2025 legislative session just around the corner, House Speaker Todd Huston of Fishers unveiled the standing committee appointments for the 124th General Assembly.
These biennial appointments lay the foundation for the next two years as committees shape and refine bills before they advance.
Bills go to committees based on their topics, where they’re discussed, and public hearings gather feedback before a recommendation is made.
State Rep. Tim O’Brien of Evansville will chair the House Ways and Means K-12 Subcommittee and also serve on the Government and Regulatory Reform and Veterans Affairs and Public Safety Committees.
“We’ll dive into school funding and find the best ways to support every student financially,” O’Brien said. “K-12 education is a major part of our budget, and this will be a big focus as we head into the budget session.”
State Rep. Michelle Davis of Whiteland was named vice chair of the House Education Committee. She will also serve on the House Commerce, Small Business, and Economic Development Committee and the House Judiciary Committee.
“Supporting educators, students, and our workforce is a top priority,” Davis said. “I’m excited to work with my colleagues to tackle the challenges facing our schools and help young Hoosiers prepare for their future.”
The 2025 legislative session kicks off at 1:30 p.m. on January 8.
