INDIANAPOLIS — State Police say a trooper is recovering after getting hit on eastbound I-465 early Saturday morning.

First Sergeant Todd Harless was outside – at the site of an earlier crash – when his marked car was hit near mile-marker 1.5. It had apparently been in the left lane, in order to “protect the crash scene.”

Officers believe the collision then caused Harless’ own car to hit him. The trooper and the driver of the other car were both taken to the hospital with “injuries,” though specific details were not provided.

Police now think the other driver may have been intoxicated at the time of the crash.

Harless was soon released from the hospital and “is resting at home.” The other driver was last known to still be receiving care.
