INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana University Indianapolis is set to construct a new athletic center after the Indiana State Budget Committee approved $110 million in funding on Thursday.
“It’s a huge day for our campus,” says IU Indy Athletic Director Luke Bosso. It’s also a huge day for the City of Indianapolis.
The center will be built just north of the NCAA Hall of Champions. It will span approximately 130,000 square feet—about the size of two football fields—and include a 4,100-seat arena for college and high school basketball and volleyball games.
“We have hopes that the project will be done around Q4 of 2026,” says Bosso. “It’s a tight timeline, but we feel positive and hopeful that the project will get done, especially considering some of the projects around the city.”
Once completed, Bosso says the project will be the university’s first-ever Division 1 basketball arena on campus. The facility will have space for men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball and the university’s new athletic office.
