Technology is amazing.

Researchers in China have created a robotic finger that could be used for prostate exams. Sure, that’s what the original inventor intended…

The “Bio-Inspired Soft Finger” is a flexible, finger-like probe with sensors on the end. The Department of Precision Machinery and Precision Instrumentation at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) created the robotic finger to give doctors an alternative resource to conduct physical exams like taking a pulse or yes, even checking for cancer.

After running several different tests, they found that robo-finger could identify an artery in a human to measure their pulse. The study doesn’t mention if any other medical exams were tested. We were all thinking it…

The research team says that BSF still has a way to go before you see your doc reaching for it (and you.) And since we are still in the design phase, may we suggest a hand warmer to accompany the finger before appointments? Just brainstorming..
