REYNOLDSBURG, Ohio. — As Chip Ganassi Racing downsizes from four full-time cars to three, the question has been asked how CGR may go about finding a place for their drivers.

It appears they have found a place for Marcus Armstrong, who has been announced as the driver of the No. 66 car for Meyer Shank Racing for 2025. The move is likely in coordination with MSR and CGR as the two enter into a new technical partnership.

“I’m very proud to be joining Meyer Shank Racing in 2025,” said Armstrong. “I had a great feeling when I met both Mike Shank and Jim Meyer, their passion for performance and meticulous work ethic was obvious from our first conversation and I want to thank them both for this opportunity.”

Armstrong was a mainstay in the No. 11 car for Ganassi the last two years. His rookie year saw him run only the road and street circuits, but his second year had him run the full schedule including ovals.

The Kiwi was 14th in the points during the 2024 season and the third-best car in the CGR stable driving to four top-five finishes, one of which was a podium at Detroit.

MSR’s acquisition of Armstrong now solidifies the team’s stable of two drivers for the 2025 season as the team signed Felix Rosenqvist to a long-term deal as well in the No. 60 car.

The move also likely puts Linus Lundqvist in CGR’s third car alongside Scott Dixon and Alex Palou.
