VENETO, Italy. — A new team will be gracing the paddock of the NTT IndyCar Series next season in PREMA Racing, and the team has announced the first of its two drivers it will field in all 17 races in 2025.
Callum Ilott, rumored for a while to be on PREMA’s shortlist for its IndyCar program, will occupy one of the PREMA seats and will make his return to full-time open-wheel racing in North America for the first time since his time with Juncos-Hollinger in 2022 and 2023.
“It’s an incredible opportunity to experience IndyCar with PREMA, their first steps in the series and in the US,” Ilott said. “What an amazing chance. I love the racing, I love these cars and I love the team, so it’s great to be back to what they call the Italian family home.”
Ilott is no stranger to PREMA having raced for them in the Formula 3 European Championship in 2017. He delivered six wins and 11 podiums for the team that season.
“We are really looking forward to welcoming Callum to our IndyCar team,” said Piers Phillips, PREMA’s CEO of the team’s IndyCar arm. “His previous experiences in the series, combined with those with PREMA, will make him a key asset as we try to merge the team’s European heritage with what it will be able to learn in the US.”
PREMA has a long racing tradition that has rarely ventured outside Europe. This will mark the team’s biggest step forward since joining the FIA Formula 2 grid in 2017. They also race sportscars in the World Endurance Championship.

Ilott has made 38 starts in IndyCar, most of those coming with Juncos. He has made two starts with Arrow McLaren driving in relief of the injured David Malukas this past season.
PREMA still has one more seat to fill as it gets the rest of its team together. Alexander Rossi is said to be of interest to the team, as is former Williams F1 driver Logan Sargeant.
