PERU, Ind.–The Indiana State Police Peru Post made criminal arrests this past Friday night when they were conducting what they call “saturation patrols.”

“We pick areas that are high in crime or areas that are seeing more crashes that result in bodily injury or are fatal crashes and we target those areas,” said State Police Sergeant Steven Glass when explaining the saturation patrols shortly after the announcement of the arrests was made Wednesday afternoon.

He says they arrested six people for operating while intoxicated. 24 citations and 58 warnings also were issued.

“We also had 20 criminal arrests. There were six drug-related arrests, seven felony charges, and four people were arrested for driving while suspended,” Glass continued.

TJ Zeiser, Commander of the Peru Post, says they are committed to keeping the roads safe for Hoosiers.

“The result of this patrol demonstrates our resolve to identify and remove dangerous drivers from the road. We will continue to carry out similar operations to ensure the safety of our community,” said Zeiser.

Police ask that when you contact emergency services you provide detailed information about the vehicle, its location, and the direction of travel to facilitate prompt intervention by law enforcement personnel.
