FORT WAYNE, IND — A police officer’s actions are being questioned after a video of an arrest on Monday.
Court documents state that Tyjana Smith, 29, faces charges of resisting law enforcement, causing injury, battery against a public safety official, refusal to identify herself, and driving while suspended.
The video shows two FWPD officers speaking with someone in a parked car at night. After about 30 seconds, they open the driver’s side door, pull Smith out, and struggle with her on the ground for about 40 seconds before the video ends.

Police say they stopped Smith for driving over twenty miles an hour above the speed limit. They chased the car until it finally slowed down, and the officer pulled it over near Abbott and Manford streets.
When the officer approached the driver, she was accused of refusing to give her name and rolling up her window. The woman was later identified as Smith.
A bystander recorded the struggle that followed. Smith was taken to jail.
