INDIANAPOLIS —A man was shot and killed in what police are calling a road rage incident on the southeast side of Indianapolis Tuesday.

It was around 8:15 Tuesday night that IMPD officers were dispatched to Thompson Road and Emerson Avenue. That’s where they say the found a man lying in the road with gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital with serious injuries and later died.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office have identified the victim as 29-year-old Gavin Dasaur.

Police say witnesses told them that the the drivers of a black Honda and a white Chevy pickup truck had gotten into an argument and that the driver of the pickup truck.

IMPD confirmed that the driver of the pickup truck remained on the scene and has been cooperating with investigators. The individual was detained and released after consultation with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.

Detectives are now trying to obtain surveillance footage that could indicate what happened leading up to the shooting.

“If someone upsets you out here on the roadways, it’s not worth it. Don’t honk at them. Don’t engage. Don’t confront them. It’s just not worth it,” said IMPD officer Rob Ryder.
