Caleb Swanigan, Former Purdue Basketball Standout, Has Died
FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Former Homestead and Purdue basketball standout, Caleb Swanigan, has died at the age of 25. The Allen County Coroner’s Office said he died of natural causes.
Swanigan was born in Indianapolis and went to Homestead High School in Fort Wayne. He won Indiana’s Mr. Basketball in 2015, the same year he helped lead Homestead basketball to their first ever state title.
Swanigan played two seasons at Purdue from 2015-17 before being drafted in the first round of the NBA Draft by the Portland Trailblazers.
“Our thoughts and prayers to Caleb Swanigan’s family and friends. The world lost a gentle soul last night,” the Purdue Men’s Basketball Twitter account posted on Tuesday morning.
