INDIANAPOLIS — Detectives with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department have arrested a 17-year-old boy for the murder of a Lyft driver.

Jahion Jarrett was arrested July 27 for the July 8 death of 45-year-old Hurt Presendieu.

On July 9, IMPD officers were called to a house on E. 25th Street on a report of an unresponsive man. Officers arrived and found Presendieu behind a building. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office determined Presendieu died from a gunshot wound. His death was ruled a homicide.

Detectives learned that Presendieu was working as a Lyft driver at the time of his death. This information, along with other evidence, led officers to arrest Jarrett in late July.

Jarrett is being charged as an adult.

Charges of murder, robbery resulting in serious bodily injury, resisting law enforcement, and dangerous possession of a firearm by a child are pending.
