There’s no doubt that the nation is extremely polarized heading into November 3, with both sides viewing the other as a threat to democracy.

Activists on the left and armed militias on the right are preparing to take to the streets if the election is contested, and a government think tank warned in August that the final outcome of the presidential race could take weeks to determine.

As a result, government and law enforcement officials are readying themselves for civil unrest violence in major cities across the country, but what about America’s suburbs?

WIBC host Tony Katz:

“The National Guard is already on the ground in Philadelphia to deal with the riots that broke out over the weekend, and they’re not leaving until after the election. Meanwhile, their city council just banned the use of rubber bullets and tear gas against rioters, which is clearly an indirect acknowledgment that they’re anti-police and anti-public safety.

“Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot issued a post-election safety plan on Friday and announced that police are stepping up patrols in the city and surrounding suburbs, and they’re sending up to 300 garbage trucks, snowplows, and heavy equipment to potentially act as blockades if necessary to protect neighborhoods.

“KVUE – a television station in Austin – spoke to residents who said they’re stocking up on groceries and taking precautions to protect their homes.

“We’re already seeing stores in Indianapolis board up. Same thing in D.C. and Denver.

“Firearm and ammunition sales to first-time gun buyers are at record highs.

“We all know it’s going down. They’re all worried about what’s going to happen; they expect it to get violent. Election results don’t go the way a particular group wants, and they’ll say ‘bring on the riots.’

“Will it reach the suburbs? We’re about to find out. Are the suburbs prepared? I know people who are prepared, but I don’t know the suburbs are prepared.

“I don’t think it’s going to go well, and I think Philadelphia is leading up aggressively to having a bigger problem than they already have. They had a man with a knife going after police, eventually, the man got shot and killed, and they decided to loot areas nowhere near where the shooting took place.

“In Vancouver, Washington, an armed black man shot at police, he was then shot and killed, and now rioters are attacking police in Vancouver.

“Meanwhile, polls are all over the place, but one thing is clear: Trump is closing the gap.”
