Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is receiving chemotherapy for a recurrence of cancer but has no plans to retire from the Supreme Court.

“I have often said I would remain a member of the Court as long as I can do the job full steam. I remain fully able to do that,” the 87-year-old said in a statement issued by the court.

Ginsburg, who spent time in the hospital last week for a possible infection unrelated to her cancer, said her treatment so far has succeeded in reducing lesions on her liver and that she will continue chemotherapy sessions every two weeks.

WIBC host Tony Katz wished Justice Ginsburg a speedy recovery Monday:

“Justice Ginsburg has clearly had her cancer return, which is just absolutely awful and no, I will not get into any of the political implications surrounding that. I don’t wish cancer on people, and those who do are sick and deranged and I absolutely want nothing whatsoever to do with you. We should all be better than that, and if you’re so consumed with your political animosity that you celebrate your adversary dying from a horrific and terrible disease, there is something terribly wrong with you. Hate rots the brain.”
