Philly Bar Bans 25 & Under Customers Over Ben Franklin Fake ID
People 25 and under are no longer welcomed at a bar in Philly because of Ben Franklin… kind of.
Dirty Frank’s, a local dive bar in Center City, Philadelphia is going viral after establishing age restrictions, but the reason why is getting the attention of social media.
Jody Sweitzer, co-owner of the bar said she and her staff have noticed a “pandemic” of fake IDs among teenagers. They’ve been able to stop most, but one kid in particular was the official nail in the coffin for any young drinker. The ‘customer’ attempted to use a fake Pennsylvania license with a photo of a 24 year-old “Ben Franklin.”
The fake ID had a headshot photo of Benjamin Franklin. They literally tried to pass as “The First American” in the city of “Brotherly Love.” How old did this kid think he could pass for?
After that, Dirty Frank’s decided as a last-ditch effort to get rid of the younger customers by becoming a strictly 25 and above bar. While the younger customers may be upset, we think the forefathers would all agree this is for the best. After all, Ben Franklin was the one who said, “honesty is the best policy.”
