A friendly word of caution to the 1.2 million Jewish people of New York City:

If you congregate in large groups for funerals or to worship God, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio will gleefully have you arrested and hauled away. The self-anointed hall monitor made that very clear in a tweet Wednesday:

“My message to the Jewish community, and all communities, is this simple: the time for warnings has passed. I have instructed the NYPD to proceed immediately to summons or even arrest those who gather in large groups. This is about stopping this disease and saving lives. Period.”

Hundreds of Orthodox Jews gathered in the streets near the intersection of Rutledge Street and Bedford Avenue in Williamsburg on Tuesday night to pay their respects for their rabbi, identified by The Yeshiva World as Chaim Mertz.

“Something absolutely unacceptable happened in Williamsburg tonite: a large funeral gathering in the middle of this pandemic,” de Blasio wrote on Twitter.

“When I heard, I went there myself to ensure the crowd was dispersed. And what I saw WILL NOT be tolerated so long as we are fighting the Coronavirus,” he said.

“My message to the Jewish community, and all communities, is this simple: the time for warnings has passed,” de Blasio wrote.

“This is about stopping this disease and saving lives. Period.”

Fun Fact: Attacks against the Jewish community have skyrocketed under de Blasio’s leadership. In 2019, anti-Semitic hate crimes in New York City rose 29 percent.

In fact, take a look at what just last week:
