INDIANAPOLIS — IndyGo is launching a new route system in June 2020.

Lesley Gordon from IndyGo tells our newsgathering partners at WISH-TV that Indy hasn’t seen a route change like this in over 70 years.

Right now, IndyGo runs on a hub & spoke system with most transfers being limited to downtown. As it stands now if you are up north, you have to ride downtown, to go back up north to your destination.

Gordon says, “We realize a lot of our routes go downtown, but that is just one destination in our city. With this redesign, we’ll be adding a lot more cross-town trips and definitely adding more frequency. So our riders will be able to get places a little faster.”

The new proposal will offer simpler transfers and shorter trips with a grid-based network. Many routes will also shorten from 30 minutes to 15 minutes. See the new route system below.

Though the vote won’t be until the end of the month, tomorrow, February 18th, will be the last day you can weigh in.

The public hearing will be Tuesday, February 18th, at 5:30 pm at IndyGo headquarters, 1501 W Washington St. You can also submit comments online or call customer service at (317) 635-3344.
