INDIANAPOLIS — Two Marion County sheriff’s deputies were transported to the hospital Friday after they were overcome by fumes while serving a warrant at a home on the near-southwest side.
Sgt. Joseph Poskey and Deputy Samuel Logwood were serving an arrest warrant for failure to appear in a drug case at a home in the 2000 block of Lambert Street shortly before 1 p.m. Friday when they noticed materials they believed to be used in the manufacture of methamphetamine.
Poskey and Logwood began coughing as a result of fumes in the home, and requested Indiana State Police for assistance. Both deputies were transported to the hospital to be examined, but were not believed to be seriously injured.
The subject of the arrest warrant, 25-year-old Billy Cook, was taken into custody without further incident. Marion County court records show an arrest warrant was issued for Cook on Monday for failure to appear at a hearing on charges of possession of methamphetamine and unlawful possession of a syringe.
