INDIANAPOLIS — The Texas man who was accused of stalking Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark pleaded guilty to harassment and stalking.

55-year-old Michael Lewis was arrested on January 12th in Indianapolis after he sent Clark many threats and inappropriate images on social media. He also stalked her outside a hotel.

Lewis was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison, which he will serve at the Marion County Jail. Following his sentence, he was directed to return home to Texas for mental health treatment. Lewis was also told to stay away from Clark and Gainbridge Fieldhouse in downtown Indianapolis, and he will not be able to access the Internet during his sentence.

“This resolution ensures that the defendant is held accountable for his threatening actions, the fear he instilled, and the disruption he caused,” Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears said in a press release after Lewis’ sentencing. “He will now spend the next two and a half years in the Department of Correction and the victim will be able to have peace of mind while focusing on what matters to her.”

Court documents say when Clark was interviewed by police, she said she was “very fearful” ever since she saw Lewis’ messages. Clark says she’s had to change her public habits and how she moves around because she’s so afraid.
