Former IMPD Officer Arrested by State Police Over Child Molestation

GREENFIELD, Ind. — A former officer with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department has been arrested on allegations of child molestation.
According to a news release from the Indiana State Police issued Thursday, David McDaniel, 54, was arrested for crimes ISP says he committed while he was with IMPD.
An investigation by state police into McDaniel started July 9. Detectives looked at reported incidents of child sexual abuse from several years ago. After going through interviews and gathering more evidence, a search warrant was served at McDaniel’s home on Tuesday.
McDaniel is beind held in the Hancock County Jail. The Hancock County Prosecutor’s Office will decide on making formal charges.
According to previous press releases, McDaniel worked for IMPD for 28 years before leaving in 2024.
