As the U.S. Department of Education begins a historic transition following President Trump’s directive to dismantle the agency, Education Secretary Linda McMahon is turning her focus toward the heartland.

Secretary of Education Linda McMahon stopped by Purdue University Wednesday to meet with Gov. Mike Braun, Indiana Secretary of Education Dr. Katie Jenner, and other educational leaders. They spoke about Indiana’s plans of expanding school choice along with at the state’s possible experiment with “Micro Schooling,” a growing educational model championed by Governor Mike Braun.

The visit by McMahon comes just days after the after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned a lower court’s order that blocked a plan to fire roughly 1,400 people from the U.S. Department of Education.
