MICHIGAN CITY, Ind.– State Sen. Michael Bohacek was arrested on OWI charges on January 24 and formally charged on May 15, according to arrest and probable cause documents obtained by WIBC and Network Indiana.

Bohacek, a Republican, was arrested when he was pulled over for speeding.

The documents say the officer and witnesses observed his speech being slow, his balance being poor and that he stumbled in the Panda Express parking lot.

He was also observed with food on his person.

Bohacek consented to a blood alcohol check, on which he registered .283. The legal limit is.08.

Bohacek faces two OWI charges, one for operating his 2023 Dodge Charger with a blood alcohol level greater than .15. Both charges are misdemeanors.

No court date was indicated on the charging documents.
