Person Shot in Downtown Indy on Memorial Day

INDIANAPOLIS — A person is in bad shape after they were shot in downtown Indianapolis on Monday.
Officers arrived at the Majestic Building on South Pennsylvania Street around 12:00 p.m., and they found the person that was shot.
The shooter, who was identified as a man, reached out to officers about what happened. Officers detained the shooter, but he is cooperating with officers as they are looking into this.
Indianapolis Police did not specify whether the shooting was accidental.
A tourist from Sweden says he was here for the Indianapolis 500 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sunday. He says he was not a witness of the shooting, but he was near Coach’s Tavern and Prime 47 on Monday, which was near the scene of the shooting.
“I thought I heard a car backfire or something like that,” the tourist says.
However, it was not a car. The tourist says he does not see stuff like this happen often in Sweden.
“Well, we have some problems with violence, but that is all there is,” the tourist says.
