STATEWIDE–The National Weather Service in Indianapolis now believes there are isolated chances for rain on Sunday, but mostly in areas south of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Mike Ryan is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. He predicts Friday and Saturday to be days for full of sunshine.

“There is a system that will bring some showers, but the trends show that it will track more into southern Indiana. Our thoughts right now here in Indianapolis for Sunday is that isolated showers are possible, but it will be mostly dry and temperatures will be cooler than normal for late May,” said Ryan.

Ryan says high temperatures at Speedway and near there will be in the 60s.

“It’s going to be chilly in the morning that day and for the next few days. You’re certainly going to want to wear a jacket and some jeans instead of shorts out at the track,” said Ryan.

He also said there is no possibility of severe weather at this time. Ryan does, however, think this cool pattern will continue.

“It’s going to linger probably through the middle of next week and then we’ll see temperatures recover from late May into early June,” said Ryan.
