Arrest Made, Shots Fired Friday in Hancock County

HANCOCK COUNTY, Ind.–A man was arrested in Hancock County Friday morning and a deputy fired his gun.
“What we know right is that there was a vehicle pursuit that was coming out of Hancock County involving the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office. They got on I-70 coming west. At some point, a deputy got out to deploy stop sticks. While he was doing that, the vehicle came through the area and the deputy discharged his firearm,” said State Police Sergeant John Perrine.
Perrine says they have strong reason to believe that the driver of that vehicle was impaired.
“The suspect kept going for a couple more miles. He eventually stopped on his own and was taken into custody,” said Perrine.
The man is facing several charges including resisting arrest and driving while intoxicated.
“We’re very fortunate that no one was hurt in this incident,” said Perrine.
Perrine says investigators are now gathering as much evidence as they can.
