INDIANAPOLIS — Officers used a drone to help seek for kids who were accused of being involved in an attempted robbery on the east side of Indianapolis.

A post on social media says the East District of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department arrived in the 1400 block of Bosart Avenue, which is in an area close to 70, near East 21st Street and North Emerson Avenue, on Saturday.

A man told police he was getting inside his car when kids came up to him, pulled on his car door, and tried to steal his keys. One kid also tried to steal his phone and wallet.

After the man shut his car door, the kids ran off.

A drone operator was informed about this incident, and they used a drone the find the suspects. Then, officers found them. After looking at surveillance video, police detained two of the kids and let the other two go.

IMPD says drones are used to help officers gather information and resolve issues.

Marion County prosecutors will make final charges.
