CARMEL, Ind. — Police are supposed to stop drunk drivers, not drive drunk. But that’s why a Carmel police officer faces charges in Hamilton County.

Carmel police stopped Officer Bryan Hood at around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday near City Center Drive and Range Line Road.

Officers learned Hood had been drinking. Hood submitted to a breath test and blew a .19, more than two times over the legal limit.

Hood was arrested and taken to the Hamilton Co. Jail. He was charged Wednesday with two misdemeanor counts of operating while intoxicated.

The Carmel Police Dept. has placed Hood on paid administrative leave until the criminal investigation is complete.
