Todd Rokita Suing DHS

Todd Rokita Suing DHS. You don’t always hear about a Republican Attorney General suing the Trump administration. Yet here in Indiana, the Attorney General, Todd Rokita and the Secretary of State suing the Department of Homeland Security are doing just that.
You don’t always hear about a Republican attorney general suing the Trump administration. Yet here we have in Indiana, the attorney General, Todd Rokita and the Secretary of State suing the Department of Homeland Security for failing to verify citizenship of over 500,000 voters. Todd Rokita joins us, the attorney general of Indiana. This involves the Secretary of State because they keep up the voter rolls. What is happening in Indiana and what brings this to a lawsuit worthy kind of situation?
Todd Rokita:
Hey, Tony, great to be back with you. Hey, listen, I talked with the Christy Noem administration all time. She’s a good friend of mine from Congress, of course, the president and I are definitely on the same page. He endorsed me, I endorsed him. So, what we’re doing here… think about back with the liberal administrations, right. They have activists who file friendly lawsuits so to speak against the administration and then the administration backs down and settles it and all of a sudden you have policy via court, right? So, what the President Trump’s administration and I are doing and with Diego as the client here, as Secretary of State, we’re doing the same thing. We’re going to go as I promised back in October. I’m going to get this list right, of people who register to vote in Indiana with no discernible outward evidence that they are citizens. And when I get that list, I’m going to see. Who on that list actually voted? And you know, then we’re going to know if there are citizens in this or non-citizens in this state voting that shouldn’t be or not. And it’s as simple as that. So, I actually have the cooperation, let’s say of the administration here. We’re doing a sue and settle process basically in order to make sure that the agreement we come to, Tony, goes beyond the administration. Yeah, I could go get a handshake with the administration right now and get the list, but it wouldn’t last beyond the administration. This way. I’m going to get a permanent process that’s going to last way beyond the time that President Trump’s in office.
